We will be staying a week near Padua and would like to visit some of the wine country. Would love to obtain some input on the village of Soave or any others where we can visit vineyards.

Are there other sites we should visit nearby? We will have a rental car.

Thank you,

Soave is an easy and beautiful town the visit with a great castle overlooking the town. It is right off the autostrada between Vicenza and Verona.

Thanks for the input. Are there vineyards nearby? If so, can you simply stop in for a tour or tasting or does it have to be arranged ahead of time?

Thank you

Around Soave, there are vineyards as far as the eye can see. As for tasting, the easiest may be to visit one of the enoteca in town. There are probably dozens of them. I really don't know much about the wineries themselves.

Have a look at www.pieropan.it

Another area and in my opinion far more worth a visit is the Valpolicella region famous for its production of fine reds.

Valpolicella, recioto and of course the King of wines from the Veneto region Amarone.

Have a look at www.allegrini.it

Also www.villagiona.it they will arrange a tour for you.

Masi also do tours but very commercial and wines not so great in my opinion.
