There is really no need to purchase them in advance. I was there during "school field trip season" and the ticket lines moved really quickly.

If you understand some Italian, you can buy tickets from the Aquarium web site:

http://www.acquariodigenova.it/jsp/index.jsp

Use the prenota e acquista link and then the acquista ora link.

There is no real need to buy tickets in advance, as the box office queue is never too long.

I went to the aquarium last Sunday and it wasn't too bad. I queued for 5 minutes, which is acceptable.
