Airport transfer Genoa Airport to City Hotel |
|
What is currently the cheapest option for transfer between Genoa airport & City hotel for a couple? The next day we need to get to the terminal. Is that transport option still the cheapest? |
|
Cheapest is for sure the airport bus from the airport to the end the line (Genoa's Principe train station), hence another bus to Piazza Fontane Marose -- the City Hotel is 2 min. from that bus stop. The 4 euro ticket you buy from the airport bus driver includes free rides for 24 hours from stamping on the entire city public transport network. www.amt.genova.it/pdf/pieghevole_volabus.pdf No bus gets into the harbour area, however, so you might have to take a cab for the short ride there, especially if you have lots of luggage.

Thank You FF. Your knowledge of Italy is incredible as is your assistance with so many postings. When I quoted City Hotel I in fact generalized the trip from the airport to central Genoa. By your comments there is obviously a hotel called City Hotel. In fact we are booked to stay in Novotel Genoa Ovest, Via Antonio Cantore. The airport bus sounds like the best option. Can you tell what is the closest point I can reach with the airport bus & from there I will get a Cab, if necessary.

Well if you are booked into the Novotel which is W of Genoa city center in the borough of Sampierdarena, the airport bus may not be your best bet as it makes one stop only in the Sampierdarena area en route to the center, but about 1.5 km far from the hotel. On the other hand, the distance from the airport to the hotel is really short - make it 3 km more or less, so a cab ride should not set you back more than 10 euro or so. The daily bus pass remains an option if you plan to tour the city, the more so as your hotel is too far from the center to walk to it. Otherwise you could take the airport bus to the stop just in front of the Fiumara shopping mall (the one 1.5. km far from the hotel I mentioned above) and hail a cab from there.
