I am arriving in Genoa on Feb. 19 and need to get to the Hotel Bristol Palace. I would rather take the Vola Bus as it seems the cheapest way. Can anyone please tell me how to figure out which buses to take and where to get off etc.

Thank you

The 'Volabus' is indeed your best bet if you arrive at Genoa's small airport, because its 4 euro ticket includes 24-hour unlimited travel on the entire city transport network, which includes buses, a couple of rack railcars, elevators, and a short subway link. This is the Volabus info: www.amt.genova.it/pdf/pieghevole_volabus.pdf

From the other end of the line (Principe train station) the easiest thing is probably to walk to the nearby subway stop and take the subway to the last stop in the center (De Ferrari). The Bristol is on Via Venti Settembre about 200 m. from there.

Thank you so much for your reply,

So are you saying to buy a Volabus "ticket" but take the subway rather that the bus itself? Or am I just misunderstanding

Non no, I'm saying do take the 'volabus' from the airport to the end of the line; then walk 200 m. to the subway stop and take the subway from there to De Ferrari (4 stops - 10 minutes or less).

For your further info (since the Genoa public transport website appears to be in Italian only) there's a Wikipedia articlea bout Genoa's subway at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitana_di_Genova

Nope, the Volabus only goes from Genoa's Principe train station to the airport and vice versa. The fastest way to go from Birgnole to Principe stations is to hop on any train -- all tRAINS ON THE LINE STOP AT BOTH, AND THERE IS ONE EVERY FEW MINUTES.
