wear a long skirt.... no-one will notice !

We were in Rome in August and wore shorts most of the time due to the heat and knee length skirts a couple of days - no hose. There were plenty of tourists (probably mostly Americans!) doing the same! Our shorts were tasteful - nothing too short. I didn't really see Italian women wearing hose, either.

I think they are pulling your leg (ha ha). I didn't notice the talian woman wearing pantyhose at all. However we were there in August when it was fairly hot. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I had naked legs and I think so did everyone else. Now I do use a leg bronzer from Victoria Secret that makes them look not so naked!

Don't wear hose it you're not comfortable wearing them. In the summer it is too hot in Rome for pantyhose. If someone is looking that closely at your legs to check if they are "naked" be flattered!

Italian women do go bare legged and infact some go practically bare everything. I've seen many a red dyed hair, bare legged, chest and tummy falling out of clothes Italian too.

Many of them old enough to be my Granny which is the sad thing.

When Italian women have class they have it to sell but many don't have it and by God does it show.

So don't worry about bare legs if that's all your baring you'll be fine. Just remember however, if wearing shorts or short skirt you may not be allowed into churches but elsewhere no problem.

wearing panty hose in hot weather can give you thrush and athlete's foot... not worth it... wear a long skirt !!!

The comments about Italian women not going with bare legs, really applies in town, with suits or 'office wear'.... not on holiday.

I've also seen many Italian women who work in high class boutiques go bare legged ok well tanned and usually well tuned but still bare.
