Hi- We are travelling to the pyrenees from Barcelona for 2/3 days and then onto San Sebastian. Could anyone suggest which towns would be interesting to stay in or visit? Nightlife isn't a priority. We are looking for something quaint and romantic.

Any suggestions would be great!

Good that nightlife is not a priority, as in most towns in the Pyrenees this will be nearly inexistent......

I like

Alquezar

Sos del Rey Catolico

google these names and you'll see why I do recommend them

However...... HOW are you traveling? If you have a car, it will not be a problem to reach these, if you depend on public transport, don't know if it's feasible

If you don't have a car, I'd suggest Jaca

Oooooooops! I just realised this is the Catalan Pyrenees forum

All the places I said are in the Aragonese Pyrenees (central part of the Pyrenees), not in Catalonia. But these are on your way to San Sebastian in any case...... I guess it's more logical to stay somewhere in the middle

BTW, Anso is quite nice too......

If you want to stay somewhere in the Catalan Pyrenees I'd suggest any of the villages of the Vall de Bohi

And if you prefer to stop again somewhere closer to the Basque Country: Ochagavia

Too many nice villages, too little time ;)

Thanks!

These are great options. We are travelling by car.

Do you know anything about La Seu D'Urgell? How does that compare to the options you mentioned?

Hello,

I recommend you Camprodon:

A great option would be Taül in the Vall de boi:

Belsaita's suggestions are en route to San Sebastian so seem more logical stopping-points; Camprodon and Seu d'Urgell would be better if you were then heading into France.

Thank you! I looked into all these places and decided to book the Hotel Villa de Alquezar in Alquezar. The place looks stunning. I would have never found it by myself.

I'm very grateful for all of your help.

Yes Alquezar is stunning. Part of the film "Kingdom of Heaven" of Ridley Scott was shot there

As you'll have a car, you can try to stop a few hours in some of the other places too, you will not be disappointed.

have a great trip!
