Tremp area overnight stay |
|
We're looking for a place to spend a couple of nights before we drive into Barcelona. We're considering the area around Tremp -- looks like it's beautifully situated, maybe a bit cooler being up in the mountains, with some good walking in the area. Would Tremp be a good choice, or are there better locations in the area? |

We spent a night in Tremp in early May 2008. We had been visiting the Romanesque churches in Sant Climent de Taull. We had planned to stay the night there but all hotels and restaurants were closed. I guess it was too early in the season. Anyway, we tried to find an hotel in Pont De Suert and no luck. Then we tried Tremp and yes, there were at least 3 hotels downtown, in 'Placa de les Creus' square. Siglo XX hotel seemed a bit more expensive, then there was a pension and another Hotel, the Alegret. We got a room there for 45 euros (double). However, I think the management got confused when we asked for a double with 2 single beds and ended up in a triple room, so we ended up paying 55 euros. The room was clean, not too big. Unfortunately, the beds were sagging so we did not have a very good night. Apart from that, the whole place was clean, the customer service was attentive and friendly and the hotel was opened late at night. I guess we should have paid a bit more and gone to the Siglo XX, though. We had dinner and breakfast at Restaurant El Mos, almost opposite the hotel. Nice and simple food at good prices and friendly staff. So yes, do stay in Tremp if you plan to visit the Romanesque churches of St Climent de Taull and there is no accommodation in the area. Tremp is a pleasant town with a nice church but not much else to see. A good base to go to other places. | ||||||
