Hi all,

my partner and I are hoping to be taking a few days in the catalonian pyrenees at the beginning of October. We're looking at the area around Llavorsi in particular as we're interested in adventure sports and it seems to be the place to go for that, but if anyone has suggestions about other areas that would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone have any recommendations on nice places to stay that are reasonably priced? Something like a b&b or a guesthouse? I know the Riberies hotel comes very highly recommended so we might stay there for one night as a treat but can't afford to stay any longer than that. We'll be renting a car so getting to obscure places won't be a problem.

Any tips on places to eat/drink or sports companies would be brill too. I don't half ask for much do I!

Thanks a million,

Rosey

If you are still thinking of places to go I strongly recommend you to go to AIGUES TORTES NATIONAL PARK and stay in that area. It is the most beautiful park in Catalonia. Near the park the villages of Boi and Taull are exceptional. All this area is kknown as LA VALL DE BOI

You can find a place to stay in the village: El pont de Suert. It is close to the park and close the two villages I've mentioned.

Take a look at the following webs:

Hi Manresa,

Thanks for that, it's great to get an explanation of the area/geography - it's so hard to pick a place to go to when it's all completely new! The links will keep me busy for a while...

If I go to the area you recommend would it be far from Llavorsi? I checked it on map24.com and it came up as an hour and a half, but I never know if those online route planning things can be trusted, especially if the roads are in the mountains. Or is it possible to do rafting, canyoning etc in the Boi area too?

Thanks a million,

Rosey

Hi Roseycork,

We are planning to go to the pyrenees in a month's time.. and have the same questions as you had last year.. I hope you enjoyed your trip! Where did you end up staying.. to the right of the park.. i.e. Llavorsi part.. or on the Boi (left) part?

Where do you suggest we stay? I was thinking of staying at Espot, since it's close the the park, but also to Llavorsi..

What about renting a quad bike to be able to visit close by villages instead of a car?

Thanks

If you want to set you "base camp" at Llavorsí (a great idea) can suggest you going to "Hotel del Rei" which is reasonably priced (even for lunch/dining). Recentely refurbished it's quite nice.

They can help you about adventures sports like rafting.

"Riberies" is fantastic. Is my choose every time I go there for job (they have a night porter wating my late arrival). Booth hotels are within a walkable distance as Llavorsí is a tiny village.

Thanks for the info Xaf.

What about any accomodation in Espot pls? We're not looking after high end accomodation.. a simple room with private bathroom would do.

Thanks

Sonia

I've been this past night sleeping in Espot (under the snow) and can tell you isn't a specially cheap place as is one of the entrance doors to the National Park. My hotel was the "Els Encantats" and paid 64-EUR for a double/single use room.

Another option is the "Hotel Victor" in Rialp: http://www.hvictor.com/

And another one is "La Posada d'Àneu":
