Never been before and wondered if the resort is full of Irish pubs? It's nothing like Santa Ponsa is it?

Thanks.

Torremolinos? No. There are a string of Irish pubs up at the Montemar end on the border with Benalmádena, and one or two at Playamar and in the Town Centre, but otherwise no.

Likewise there are a few nests of British pubs around, but for either pub-style nowhere near as many as in Benalmádena.

Torremolinos is a (surprisingly, to the British who think of the 'old days') Spanish resort as much as anything these days. Lots of Dutch and Scandiwegians about as well. Few Germans.

There are an increasing number of Americans now the direct flights to Málaga have started, also more and more French as they realise their own country is grossly over-priced and that they can holiday outside France without being arrested on arrival back home.

Loads of people down for the weekend from Madrid these days as well, now there is the super-fast train, maily attracted by the beach and fab restaurants in La Carihuela.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Just one more question: is Torremolinos more lively than Benalmadena? Looking for somewhere nice, with some nice bars, entertainment.

Cheers.

Am in Majorcsa at the moment and Torremolinos is nothing like Santa Ponsa that is little Dublin!

You would have a ball there.

Hi again Karen,

It depends on what you are looking for, Benalmádena certainly has more British/Irish bars with 'entertainment' of varying kinds in the evening than Torrie but its easy enough to walk along to or a short bus ride.

If you are after late clubbing then there are clubs in Benalmádena Marina or Plaza Solymar ('24hr square') in Benal., or a variety of late night bars and clubs in Torrie Town Centre - these tend to be gay/mixed, so a bit more louche and lively provided you're not shocked by a bit of man-on-man action!

Karen:

Every poll on Spaniards shows that their favorite Spanish resort is Torremolinos. Now that there is an AVE train from Madrid, every weekend Madrileños come here to spend a relaxing time on the beach on weekends. They can have a fabulous fish lunch at La Carihuela or Bajondillo Beach, for a very reasonable price. The inexpensive stores by the beaches are open everyday of the week, so if you like shopping, you will enjoy it here.

In the upper part of town, go to Calle San Miguel, one of the best shopping streets in Spain.

Yes Paul, another holiday! Need a few days pampering every few weeks to make up for me running after our B and B guests. Also, desperately needed a week to make up for our disaster in Tenerife in June. We are having a ball!!!
