Hi ,

last time I visited Dusseldorf I took the train into the city which was fine.

This time as my flight arrives early evening I could do with saving some time and catchign a taxi.

Can anyone give me an idea in comparison to the train forthe cost of a taxi into the city from the main airport?

thanks in advance

S-Bahn trains from Düsseldorf Airport Terminal to Düsseldorf Hbf (main railway station) need 12 minutes. Single ticket is EUR 2,20.

Taxi to Düsseldorf Hbf is approx. EUR 16,00. Not sure if you can really save time on this at early evening.

thanks for the reply and info.

I guess I was thinking of saving some time in terms of purchasing a ticket waiting a few minutes for the next train, short walk to the hotel. Would be double the price, divided by the 3 of us.

If your hotel is near the main station you don't save time if you take a taxi . Better take the train

I would get the taxi - there are always loads of them outside. In around 100 trips I have never waited more than a minute or two (and then only if there is a queue). This includes arrivals on all days of the week and at all times of the day.

Literally 2 or 3 minutes will see you in a cab and on your way + travel time of 15 - 20 mins to the city centre (and / or the doorstep of your hotel).

For the train it will take 5 mins to get to the platform, another couple of minutes at least messing around with the ticket machine + wait time + travel time to the Hbf. And then you have to make your way to the hotel / city centre from the station...

Unless you plan on sleeping on a train platform, taxi wins hands down.

How many people would the taxi fit in, there is 5 of us, I'm guessing we would have to get 2 taxis
