Dusseldorf airport hotel with easy trip into city |
|
I'm visiting Dusseldorf on a combined business/leisure trip in October. I need to stay near the airport there for the business part, but as my wife is coming along as well, I'm looking for an airport hotel with easy access to a shuttle bus/train so that she can go signtseeing into the city whilst I'm working, just for the day. Anyone any suggestions which satisfy this combined criteria? As we are then going onto Cologne afterwards for the weekend, it would also be useful for easy access to train to Cologne as well, if that is possible. |

You have a very good access to the local train-system via the hotels right next to the airport terminal: Sheraton Dusseldorf Airport: Maritim Dusseldorf Airport:

Martitim Airport is a new airport hotel with easy access from the airport building . You get from the airport to the main railway station Düsseldorf HBF with train S7 within 12 minutes every 20 minutes . To Cologne you have to changed there . But, why not a hotel in he city with easy access to the airport ? If you take a hotel near Düsseldorf HBF you get quick to the airport and you wife is in town for shopping and sightseeing during the day . And you can spend your evenings in the town . Hotel Best Western Savoy is a traditional hotel located between HBF and at famous Düsseldorf Kö (for Shopping) both within 10 minutes at walking distance . Brauerei Schumacher is nearby . Altstadt and Rhine also at walking distance . If you don't want to walk , you find a Underground station nearby Here some links : booking.com/hotel/…best-western-savoy.en.html booking.com/hotel/…maritim-dusseldorf.en.html http://www.schumacher-alt.de/index2.html

To tell you the truth: I would stay in Dusseldorf city to make my wife happy... There is a Metro going out to the airport every 20 min and it takes 12 min from the main station. If you take a cab that cost you around 18 Euros. The airport is close to the city and not an excinting place to be. Dusseldorf has more to offer than a boring airport hote. My wife would certainly be upset if she finds out that the city is so close by and she has to stay at the airport...

thanks all. I think I'm getting the message about airport v. city hotel! My business contact, who will be travelling from outside Dusselford requested that I could be collected from an airport hotel. But it may be better to stay at a city hotel, and then I get shuttle to airport for collection - thus leaving wife to shop in city!
