Hotels near the Christmas Market area |

Hi, we are a group of "older" ladies considering Dusseldorf for the Christmas markets. I have had a look at the hotel reviews on TA but there are so many hotels! Has anybody any recommendations for the area around the Marktplatz and Konigsallee. Nothing too fancy or expensive! Any help in drawing up a shortlist appreciated and we can then narrow it down with the help of the reviews on here. Report as inappropriate |

Welcome to my world ... ! Us "older ladies" always stay in the Hotel Alt Graz (I've posted a review) when we go to the xmas market in Dusseldorf. It's a lovely small family hotel (about a 15 min walk to the Ko), but on the plus side, it's 2 mins walk to the train station. If you're going with ryanair, this is also where the bus drops you off and picks you up to go home. The public transport links are great, so if you don't fancy the walk, there are plenty of options. Proximity to the station also gives you the chance to use the great rail link to go to Cologne or Essen which also have great markets and are only about 30 mins away. Nice Hotels which are quite near to the city centers/christmas market are: Expensive: - Breidenbacher Hof (opposite of Christmas market) - Intercontinental (ca. 750m) - Nikko Hotel (ca. 750m) - Steigenberger Parkhotel (opposite of Christmas market) Morderate: - Holiday Inn City Center (ca. 750m) - Four Points Cenral Düsseldorf (ca. 1km) - Hotel An der Oper (ca. 200m) - NH Düsseldorf City Center (ca. 800m) - Intercity Hotel (ca. 1km - but next to main station with subway connection to Altstadt/christmas market) - Best Western Savoy (ca. 800m) Report as inappropriate | ||||||

Thanks Ally and Andie for your replies. The Alt Graz isn't a hotel I have come across so far so will certainly check it out. A few of Andie's are on my short (but getting longer) list. Will check the others out. Yes Cologne and Essen are on the agenda too so it will be handy to be near the station too. We are not flying Ryanair so don't need the pick-up point. What a shame!
