You can use the S-Bahn trains from Terminal 1 to Hauptbahnhof. Travel time is 11 minutes. That's by far the fastest option. Single ticket is EUR 3,60.

What for - there is the S-Bahn and there are long distance trains which go right INTO the Hauptbahnhof.

You're going to Nürnberg if I remember correctly? Check if there is a direct train from Frankfurt Airport that doesn't even require a change at Hauptbahnhof. If you don't arrive at an odd hour, there should be.

misunderstanding here - i am flying from london to frankfurt on british airways unfortunately they don't fly to nuremberg - i arrive in frankfurt late in the afternoon 1500-1600. spending the night in frankfurt - taking the train the next day to nuremberg - with all due respect i don't want the s-bahn thats a subway forget it if there is no bus to downtown frankfurt - i will take a taxi. thank you all for your replies much appreciated.

p.s. taking the plane to frankfurt and then the train to nuremberg too much for one day. coming back by train from nurenberg to frankfurt again will stay overnight in frankfurt and the next day take the plane to london. by the way i have the time so doing it this way is more comfortable.

There is a bus service from FRA airport to dowtown Frankfurt Main Train Station (MTS or HBF) leaving from Terminal 1 arrival -B- bus top 22 operated by Bohr Omnibuse. This is the Ryanair Shuttle to Hahn which stops at Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. Here is the link for times and fares:

i know you meant well - frankfurt hahn airport is not frankfurt international airport - hahn airport is 75 miles or 120 kg from downtown frankfurt - frankfurt international is 12 kg or 7 miles from downtown frankfurt. frankfurt hahn airport has the shuttle bus because its 75 miles away i arrive at frankfurt international on british airways. the best thing for me is to take a taxi. thanks anyway.

Not at all, you got it wrong please click on the link I gave you and then on the map click again on Frankfurt. Ready my post one more time carefully. The Hahn shuttle to and from FRA International goes via downtown Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof.

its a little confusing because there are two different airports frankfurt hahn and frankfurt international - if the bus stops at frankfurt international i'll take it when i arrive at frankfurt i will ask about the bohr-omnibuse and can i pick it up at frankfurt international to downtown frankfurt etc and if they direct me to the bus i will take it - the website you gave me is for frankfurt hahn airport.

I am fully aware there are 2 airports. Hahn (HHN) and Frankfurt International (FRA). I have used both. I am also fully aware that the link I gave you is for Hahn airport (HHN) the reason is to show you the time table for the departures. The Bohr bus goes from FRA airport to downtown Frankfurt main railway station and then picks up more passengers and goes on to HHN and vice-versa. So give the driver a € Fiver when you board the bus at the FRA airport and 15 mins later get off at the main railway station in downtown Frankfurt. This seems to be the only bus service but you can ask when you get to FRA. I hope you are with me now ?
