From approximately the last day of April through middle October, there are 2 regular "tour" boats that hold approximately 250 passengers that travel to the Walhalla each day. Departure times from Regensburg are 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.. Boats depart at the same times on Saturdays & Sundays only earlier in April. These boats allow you to disembark and spend about 1 hour and 15 minutes at the Walhalla. There are approximately 385 steps along the trail leading to the Walhalla, and stopping along the way to catch your breath is possible at numerous spots.
The boats continue on their journey before returning to pick you up for the trip back to Regensburg. The round trip price per person is ten (10) Euro, which is approximately $14.00. Walking around the outside of the Walhalla is free. Optional entrance into the Walhalla to view the busts is an additional four (4) Euro, $5.75. The total tour time is about 3 hours. Food and drink may be brought along or purchased on the boat.
There is another boat that travels to the Walhalla (8 Euro), from Jne through mid September, but does not stop there to allow you to disembark, so be sure to purchase your ticket for the right boat. Departure time is 3 p.m. It is possible to stay on the boat that stops at the Walhalla instead of disembarking. Ttickets are 12 Euro total for the 3 hour round trip. Tickets may be bought at the tourist information center in Regensburg or at the ticket booth by the river.
