Ok. besides the Stein or beer mug. Where and what is the best souvenir to take from Munich? I notice that evrywhere that I go the best place to shop for a souvenir is away from the touristy areas...

The black bread which keeps fresh up to a week, if you like it:

There is a branch of the Hofpfisterei bakery directly on Viktualienmarkt, and another one directly beside the Hotel Platzl, on Sparkassenstr. 12. Foot way between these two branches: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2047593

You can even order bread online for shipping to outside Germany (contact by e-mail p.acker@hofpfisterei.de) at the same bread prices as in the branch (scroll down in below link), but with an additional shipping fee:

also the museum shop of the Münchener Stadtmuseum (Munich city museum), St.-Jakobs-Platz, is a good idea
