A group of us took over the Chateau in early September. The property is lovely, the rooms have all been modernized but retain the charm of the Chateau. Eddie and Sharon are very hospitable and work extremely hard at pleasing their guests. Eddie did a full day tour for us of the Normandy beaches and as he is a recently retired military man, he has researched his subject well and goes in to a lot more detail than your average tour. In fact, he gave us a slide presentation of the background to D Day so we would better understand what we were seeing. Sharon cooked a main meal for us which was first class and the breakfasts were typically French with fresh baguettes and croissants.

Most of our group have already said they plan to return which says it all. 10 out of 10!

My family stayed here in August 2008 and loved it (even the 2 teen girls). Eddie did a fantastid job on a tour of the D-day beaches and I can't imagine a better one, and sharon did an equally good job on a tour of Mt St Michel (sp?). I would highly recommend them, and if you can stay int he Chateau, all the better.

I spent several stellar days at the Chateau de Beaulieu this past summer while traveling in France with my teenaged nephew, who made his one and only unqualified statement about the trip when he said of our time with Edward and Sharon, "That was great!" The Chateau was a terrific place to stay, with roomy-yet-cozy bedrooms, each of which has its own totally modernized en suite bathroom. Chateau de Beaulieu would be an ideal setting for family or friends for a group getaway. Edward took us on a full-day tour of the Normandy beaches (truly a full day: we left the Chateau at about 9am and didn't return until after 6pm, stopping for an excellent seaside restaurant lunch which was included in the tour price) and had fascinating things to say at every turn. We also had a morning tour with Sharon of the nearby Chateau de Pirou and thoroughly enjoyed her Medieval background talk. I wish we'd had time for a longer stay and hope to return soon.

Monsieur Poirot is still on the case but his grey cells are now considering another case of mass praise.

A Bed and Breakfast establishment, that appears be the best in Northern France, has come to his attention.

Ten first, and only, time posters have 'stumbled by accident' upon this apparent gem of a 2 bedroom B&B and their 5 star ratings have heaped praise on the owners and property.

This remote B&B has been found by travellers who must have either been completely lost or have programmed their sat navs in a very mysterious way.

M.Poirot will continue his investigations at his own pace - please bear with him for a while.

Oh do tell!!

I've come across one of those myself in my own region. Only opened in June this year and already has 4 excellent reviews from first time posters who stayed for a 5-7 days at a time and all wished they had stayed longer. Funny, because even us established B&Bs don't often get more than 4 night stays.

Apparently the residence in question is the number one B&B in Heuchin, Nord-pas-de-Calais.

So many five star awards by recent travellers that the sky above Heuchin must have a permanent glow.

The only complaint was that the guests wished they could have stayed longer.

Possibly the B&B is just as good as the reviewers opinions but then again ---.

M.Poirot will let you know of any developments that occur.
