Would be pleased to have some recommendations for places to visit in the area of Strasbourg and Colmar.

Thanks for any advice!

take the wine road, many charming villages to visit between Strassbourg and Colmar, and if you have more time to spend, cross the Rhin and visit the Black Forrest, Swchwarzwald or Foret Noire (as you prefer)

Basel and Freiburg are nice cities to visit. Of course as Philpetrus says the Black Forest - maybe visit a hot spring while you're there. Baden Baden is the most famous but lots of towns have them (mostly the town names that begin "Bad..." eg Badenweiler or Bad Wildbad.)

While driving the wine route you can head up in to the Vosges mountains for half a day. There are lots of walks you can do or just sit round a lake (eg Gerardmer has a nice lake to hire a small boat, swim etc or just have a coffee and feed the ducks).

I haven't been but the Motor museum in Mulhouse gets good comments if you like these kind of things (or get a rainy day).

There is a little road just east of the Wine Road, the D35. From Strasbourg, you can catch it out of Obernai.
