I'll be in limerick on saturday, staying in the Clarion. I have a few hours to spare during the day which I hope to spend doing a spot of shopping. Does anybody know of any cool boutiques in the city that are worth checking out or any retro or vintage shops?

Thanks,

Mursy.

Sorry, Im not the person to answer a shopping question. The Clarion is only 2 minutes walk to the city centre. Im sure once your in there you will have no problem finding shops.

Tippe Canoe on Lower Shannon Street is Fab. Funky Stuff.

Catherine Street has places such as O'Donnells. There are some nice cafes there as well. Not quite a Grafton Street experience but definately worth a look at. Around the corner, in Roches Street, there are a few boutiques as well in addition to Helene Modes.

JRs is now in Thomas Street - also just off Catherine Street.

Vintage-Retro are in the Market area. The Edge is Funk meets Punk meets Goth/Emo.

Less Vintage/Boutique and more High Street is the Crescent Shopping Centre. H&M, Next, Zara etc. This is a big, big shopping centre.

Thanks for the replies. I'll look forward to checking out those boutiques, the market area sounds pretty cool too. I think I'll give the highstreet chains a miss, I live close enough to all the big stores. I'm in the mood for something different this weekend, feel like a splurge:)

Just one other query, I'll actually be in Limerick for a football match, does anybody know if the clarion is within walking distance of the gaelic grounds?

The Clarion is about a mile and a quarter from the Clarion.

Go over the big bridge near the hotel, then take the first right towards a roundabout.

Then - this is the quieter route for walking - take the first left onto a quiet suburban road. And walk about 1/4 mile or so to a triangle. Take a right here, then at the next triangle - at the back of the Clarion Suites - walk up the hill, through the Clarion Suites to the Ennis Road. A couple of hundred yards ahead, you will see the Gaelic Grounds. They are opposite a small shopping centre with an AIB Bank and a DIY Store and a convenience store.

Another clothes shop I hear ladies talking about is Meile B on Roches street. Celia Holman Lee is often talking about them
