Ireland novice - help!! |
|
Hi, my husband wants me and our baby (aged 1) to join him on a work trip to Ireland, he's got meeting in Dublin and then wants to hire a car and us to "explore" a bit for a few days. Before we had a baby this would have been great, but now I feel we need more of a plan... I quite like the sound of Kerry and Clare, has any one got any ideas for this vague brief, bearing in mind the baby! Thanks |

Not sure how long a few days is but assuming it is 4/5 and you wishing to see Kerry and Clare - both great places to visit - Perhaps if you flew into Shannon and had him meet you guys there, rent a car and spend 2 nights at each? You could fly back from Kerry International Airport. It would mean a lot of driving to use Dublin as your airport but wishing to spend time in the south west of the country. There are flights to both SNN and KIR from DUB if he wants to fly in before you and get the rental organized.

Jen - I've a link that I have put together for some ideas for family travel in county Clare, although much of it would suitable for older children. tripadvisor.com/Travel-g186595-c51813/County… Is there any chance that you could fly into Shannon (county Clare) and ask your husband to pick you both up from there? http://www.shannonairport.com/plan-book/ Alternatively tou could fly into Kerry airport. You could either base yourself for a few days in Clare or Kerry, and tour from the this area - or maybe look at a couple of nights in Killarney or Dingle followed by a couple of nights in Clare? Maybe, if you can get value: http://www.parknasillahotel.ie/family.html http://www.dingleskellig.com/family.html http://www.dreamireland.com/home/index.php You could go to Kerry via Adare, then take advantage of the ferry to see some scenic areas of county Clare on your way back.
