Take a look at Killarney Lodge. It will tick restful and homey boxes and many more. It is a guest house, not a B&B as the wonderful owners live in seperate accommodation close by. Don't know what your travel dates are but KL is open until late October. I would not stay anywhere else, it is a great place to stay, don't think they do disappointment in any shape or form!

Going for All Ireland competition so February 2009 for 3 nights. Have been to Killarney many times so don't need touristy. Under 40 euros pps./family room.

Other than Hotels and Guesthouses, Self Catering to which I feel you would benefit from much more are harder to get a handle on.

Mainly because they are outside the loop of agencies and booking engines. I have however, compiled a list of suitable places.

Let me be honest also. I have selected Killorglin as a base as its outside of Killarney but not within the tourist mecca. Im sure you want avoid your throngs of countrymen with their baseball caps, bum bags and camera dangling about the necks on coach tours. Killorglin is the beginning and also the end of the Ring of Kerry and a nice town.
