Probably wondering why a Dub is asking a question on this forum but I don't know where to say!

Basically, my brother is coming over by ferry from England and docks at 6am. Is there anywhere decent for breakfast open at that time in the city centre(Saturday). It will be him,his wife and 3yo grandson.

Any suggestions?

You'll have no problem if you're happy to eat at an hotel - Buswells serves from 7am & is central.

buswells.ie/index.cfm/…dining.htm

A few of the other places that I checked like the Kilkenny shop & Foley do not open until later (8:30/9:00).

The topic came up recently - so check the Dublin forum, I think Suzyflag or myround had some good breakfast suggestions.

Apparently there is a place on Camden Street called the Billboard Cafe that opens at 7 am.

Probably much more congenial just to give them breakfast at your home at that hour. Provided, of course, that you're a good cook ceannain. There's nothing quite as distressing as a badly cooked Irish breakfast.

Thanks for your replies. Will make it myself i think. Willl be up anyway as have two children under 3!!

They suggested breakfast in town as they would stay on till shops open and have a look around before coming out to me. Guess they will just have to do it other way around.

Any entrepreneurs out there want to open a 24 hr cafe??

Just a note to say there are 2 all night places in Portabello. Unfortunately one The Gigs Place ( which I've been in when I lived in Rathmines) closes at 6am and you pay for the privilege. A 24 hour place now theres an idea!

There used to be a 23 hour a day place called the Coffee Dock, in the old Burlington Hotel. But both the hotel and those giddy days of the Coffee Dock seem to be over. It was a favourite haunt of many partygoers, in the early hours, after the UCD Rag Ball and the Trinity Ball.
