I would like to find a charming farm house, very typical B&B around $50 per person per night. We will have a car, so any suggestions within driving distance would be appreciated!

While a newer home, Pitmilly is a great place just outside of StA. Anthea and Roddy are wonderful and Roddy can tell amazing golf stories.

It will depend on what time of year you are coming, how many nights you stay in the B&B, what star rating you are looking at.

For St Andrews, $50 per per per night will be roughly 2-3 star Visit Scotland rating.

You will need to stay further outside of St Andrews because you will find it difficult to find somewhere charging that at this time of year.
