raf: Don't know too much about LA (only "did" Disney, Universal, and Knotts Berry when we were there - SAD!!); BUT just as in San Francisco, don't overlook the hetero/gay/come what may scene in Edinburgh. Some of the city is VERY old fashioned (and I don't mean the buildings!) but there is a great evening/night scene of pubs, clubs, all tastes in music, etc. Just get out there and enjoy!
