Hi everyone

I was hoping someone could help me out. We are an Aussie couple in our early 40's touring England Scotland Wales and Ireland for 6 weeks in Aug/Sept 2009. My question is what is a reasonable price to pay for B&B accommodation for the 2 of us per night per room. We have both never stayed in B&B's before and i am finding such a difference in price range. We will have a rental car and understand that staying in the city will be higher than staying on the out skirts of town, which we are open to. We would be looking to stay in at least a 3.5 -4 star and up property and we have a minimum of 3 nights stay per city we are visiting, but i am finding such a variance in price. So what is a price guide to go off per room per night for 2 adults. The sad thing is that the English pound is approx 2.5 times higher than one Aussie dollar. OUCH!!!!!!

Regards

Brooke

Hi, Prices will of course vary but a double room in a 4 Star B and B will be between £60 and £90 per night, with many around the £70-£80. You will find many give a discount for 3night or longer stays.

Often 5 Star may not be any more expensive so check them out.

I completely agree with willie. We stayed in a few B&B's (all 4 star) and their tariffs were 65 - 75 pounds.

I feel your pain, rbsimmo. Last year the CDN dollar to British pound was a little more than 2-1. It is expensive, but well worth it. You will have a fabulous time.

Another tip would be to book early and try to secure your accommodation at this years prices. Most accommodation providers are happy to take advance bookings for next year. Check at the time of booking that the price will be fixed and read the cancellation policy should anything unexpected cause you to delay or cancel your trip.

Hope this is helpful.

Sorry to disagree with previous poster but most will already have next years prices fixed and published on their websites. Good advice though on cancellation policy as they do vary tremendously

I stayed at the lovely Southland Guest House while in York. It was a super place, very clean and nicely decorated, and the owner Karen was fabulous.

Check out their Trip Advisor reviews, they are all very good. You get excellent quality for your money.

Most do know what next years rates will be, ours like most are increasing due to the massive fuel price rises this year.
