Hello - our class, of around 20 people, are travelling to London in early January. We need somewhere cheap to stay - any tips? We are staying for 6 nights, so any week offer would be great. YMCA has a student offer of 100£ for a week, which is good, but we need alternatives.

Thanks!

The Generator Hostel is pretty cheap - www.generatorhostels.com/London.

The LSE (London School of Economics) has a number of dorms in good locations. Some offer rooms over the Christmas and New Year period. More here - lsevacations.co.uk/residences/bankside.htm

The Generator is a nasty looking place, sorely in need of cleaning, refurbishment and better lighting. The entrance alone makes it look woefully unwelcoming.

Consider the YHA hostels. There is one on the Euston Road, not a lovely location but with superb transport options (bus and Underground) and the new hostel on Bolsover Street. The latter does not have quite the same transport connections, but is in a v quiet location not far from Regent's Park.

Lovely place - I've stayed there myself and am going back in November.
