As joe responded to you in a previous post, get at least one guidebook and read it. You need to have a rough idea of what is possible and how things work before you start asking so many questions.

To politely answer your question no Stonehenge, Cambridge and Oxford can't be done in 1 day! If you are only in London for a couple of days I would give them all a miss and stick with exploring London. There is more than enought to see and do here and everywhere is open. As other people have said it depends what your interests are. How about going on a hop on hop off bus to get your bearings and see a bit of everything. Some people are abit snooty about these(including me!) but they do serve a purpose although thay are a bit expensive! Anyway just a few suggestions: History buff - tower of london food nut - borough market shopaholic - harrods if you have money,Libertys to dream, Top shop if you are young and slim although a handbag always fits! Any of the museums are worth a visit and the Natural History, Science and Victoria and Albert are all next to each other in South Kensington. Go for a walk on the Southbank and through one of the parks. Seriously there is stacks to do! Do what you fancy and don't feel obiged to do/see anything, nothing is a must see

gypsy, you have a long flight! Buy the DK-Eyewitness, London Top Ten guide. From your other post it sounds like you just have a few days in London. Stay there!

With just a few days in London, I would just plan on staying there and seeing the sites. Nearly all the tourist sites are open on the weekend, so you don't need to think you have to leave London on the weekends. The main exception is that the churches are not open for tours on Sunday (but are open for worship services if you are so inclined. Evensong services are lovely.) I know London is a bit overwhelming with all it has to offer, but take a look through your guidebook and make a list of the things you'd like to see. Then prioritize it because you won't be able to see it all. Once you have a list of your must-sees, you'll want to organize those geographically so you aren't wasting time traveling back and forth across London - it is a very large city. If you post back here with your rough draft itinerary, you'll get feedback on how to best utilize your time.

gypsyspirit, after a long, tiring stuffy flight - you can take the air and sample most of the London spirit by visiting Houses of Parliament, Westminster Bridge, Tate Modern,St Paul's,Dali Museum, London Eye,Waterloo and South Bank all in one walk. We kept a london travelog of our trip: http://www.squidoo.com/londonfun4less How? By walking up one side of the Thames and down the other! And ..... you can't get lost either! Highly recommended.
