thinking of doing the Thames boat cruise and the London Eye. Plan on starting are afternoon about 3:00pm. Can you tell me something else we could do around this area that will still be open or should we just go to one of the Squares have a late diner and do some typical tourist watching and looking. We will be in London for 5 nights. Thank you Diane

on my first day in a place where i'm going to expirience jet lag, i like to keep moving. we usually do a lot of walking outdoors to keep the sleep away! so with that said, stroll through london's beautiful parks and enjoy the scenery.

when you say you plan on starting around 3:00 is that because it's your arrival time or are you planning on checking into your room and napping and then going out on the town?

We will be taking the train from Manchester and ariving about 12:30 pm and we are staying at the Jury Inn Islington. We figured by the time we check into are room and rest for an hour we would be ready to go. We had already been in Manchester for 3 nights

Have you arranged early check in ?

Many hotels do not let you check in before 3pm- but they normally will look after your luggage if you arrive earlier

You haven't told us the day of the week that this is happening or what month of the year, and different things happen at different times.

For example, there are a lot of special events in London this Saturday and Sunday to mark the handing over of the Olympic torch from Beijing to London.

Hi,

we also have been to London recently and started for exploring the city in the afternoon.

We did a boat tour on the Themse (City Cruises). If you arrive by train and take your train ticket with you, you get a 2 for 1 offer for the tour that goes to Greenwich and back.

If you stay on the boat, a return tour takes about 2 1/2 hours. But you can also get off the boat in Greenwich and have a look at the Meridian. You can just take a later boat back.

On the way back, we got off at the Tower and just strolled around and went to a pub for dinner.

That was really a good start for our stay in London.

Hey There,

We arrive Set 25th at 11am...we plan to check in and do the London Eye..I was trying to come up with something else in the area beside walking..the river cruise sounds fun and another good way to check things out on the first day.?

I was trying to find out what else was in the area but not a major committment on the 1st day.

Have a great trip!
