I stayed at this dump a few years ago . NIGHTMARE !!!. On the phone the owner was making out that his hotel was a palace . ( i think not ) . The New Dorchester Hotel had taken its name from The top class Dorchester Hotel which is also on Queen's Promenade . When i arrived at the dump with my family for our 3 day break . I could not believe it !! We were greeted by an scruffy looking man who served us tea . We then waited for the manager to show us to our rooms. Or should i say a (bedsit). And talk about a seaview as advertised i think not unless u wash the windows 10 times to get the dirt off . We then later on went out for a walk to plan our GREAT ESCAPE . As we walked back later that evening to collect our stuff to get out of the place and we saw a jake with a long black beard and he had a holdall which was the exact same as ours. We marched right in and grabbed our stuff and left . Threw the key in the North Sea . NEVER GO THERE !! MAJOR WARNING .

Why would you post now if it is a few years ago you stayed. I think and hope people will treat this post with a degree of scepticism.

Why go out and plan an escape???? You should have left immediately and made a complaint to the Council. If complaints don't go in, these places will continue to trade and give Blackpool a bad name. So many places are ploughing money into their businesses and in future it may be wise to visit stay-blackpool.com or visitbritain.co.uk who advertise accredited guesthouses and hotels. Better luck next time.

Littlewillie, to be honest if it is the same hotel on Queens Prom, it should have been shut down years ago. It does have a bad reputation and a forum back in November 07, did raise a lot of interest in the forums. I know its on the market and it is likely never to sell at the price he is asking because it is such a hazzardous dump!

But I agree why raise the issue after staying a few years ago!!!!

I think the delayed review is due 2 years of counselling after staying at The Dorchester. Only now can he say 'I was very angry at The Dorchester'. It was on 'hotels from hell' a few years back and has been for sale since about 2001.

I'm the Manager of this hotel and as has been pointed out we are not on the NOrth Sea neither do I employ anybody called jake, the telly wasn't showing the GREAT ESCAPE and the customer should have been hppay with a bedsit instead of a room because they are clearly bigger and more expensive I do not believe this review and think that someone is mischief making.

I have looked through the guset lists and have never had a Major Warning stay here ... although I did have a Corporal Punishment and a General Feeelingof hopelessness. Perhaps they were all in the same regiment?

(NB - I am not really the owner of this establishment.)

I think 'bumping' this is a great idea, for some reason, a lot of prospective visitors use the forum rather than reviews to search for a place.

If bumping this stops one person from booking this hovel, then its relevant.
