Hi..BG's pen pal here....is there a particular city that is associated with the World War II beaches and museums?

In the US we have 50 states. If you were coming to see the Statue of Liberty I would tell you to travel to New York, to see Las Vegas I would say you have to go to the State of Nevada, etc.

I believe I am learning that Normandy is a province of France?

So when I say "I am going to Normandy to see Omaha Beach" that is correct and "not" correct also since Normandy is large. Is there a correct way to say it to narrow it down? Is it Caen?

Thanks,

Omaha is closer to Bayeux than Caen, but the area of the five beaches is known as the D-Day Landings area or Les Plages du Debarquement in French.

Normandy is a Region in France. Omaha is in the Department of Calvados. But it would be correct to say you are going to Normandy to see the D-Day beaches.

Its not at all clear to me what your question is.

Are you asking generally about what language to use, or are you asking if there is a specific town you should be staying in?
