Hi..BG's pen pal here....is there a particular city that is associated with the World War II beaches and museums? In the US we have 50 states. If you were coming to see the Statue of Liberty I would tell you to travel to New York, to see Las Vegas I would say you have to go to the State of Nevada, etc. I believe I am learning that Normandy is a province of France? So when I say "I am going to Normandy to see Omaha Beach" that is correct and "not" correct also since Normandy is large. Is there a correct way to say it to narrow it down? Is it Caen? Thanks, |
|
Omaha is closer to Bayeux than Caen, but the area of the five beaches is known as the D-Day Landings area or Les Plages du Debarquement in French. Normandy is a Region in France. Omaha is in the Department of Calvados. But it would be correct to say you are going to Normandy to see the D-Day beaches.

Its not at all clear to me what your question is. Are you asking generally about what language to use, or are you asking if there is a specific town you should be staying in?
