Hi, I'm staying in Southampton for 1 night in June with my girlfriend. Wanted a modern, quality hotel for us to stay in (not worried if it is a drive from the city center).

The options that are looking good now are Marriot Meon Valley, Terra Vina, and White star. please let me know your thoughts.

Cheers,

J

Hi

Havent actually stayed in any of the hotels you've mentioned but may be able to offer a bit of advice on the surrounding areas.

The White Star is in Oxford Street and is the only one of the 3 you mention that is actually in Southampton itself. Oxford St is full of bars and restaurants, so if you're planning a night out would be ideal, but if you want somewhere quiet to stay is probably not the best choice!!

The Terra Vinna (from looking on this site) looks very small, more like someones house! Its a little way out of Southampton, but from memory only about a 15 minute drive.

The Marriott Meon Valley is about 20/25 minutes outside of Southampton and is the largest of the 3 hotels, and therefore has the most facilities. Its out in the countryside a bit more, but would mean that you would need to drive to get anywhere.

Have you considered the Devere in Southampton? That one may be worth a look.

Hope this helps

HH

Is the Devere any good? I'vec heard mixed reviews - it seems expensive for the quality it provides?

I've never stayed there, was just trying to think of other hotels in Southampton! Looking at the reviews on here it does seem pretty mixed and it is one of the more expensive hotels.

Guess you've done the research already to come to your 3 choices!!!

Would defo recommend De Vere. Only 5* hotel in Southampton.

Depends what your budget is as well. Hilton is a 5 minute drive from the City Centre.

Hello x

I haven't stayed in any of the hotels you mentioned either - but the White Star has a fab restuarant.

Have you seen Chilworth Manor? I have been here and its lovely - and the grounds are lovely too. Bit nicer than being stuck in the city centre

I haven't actually stayed in the hotel but have been to functions and I looked around it for a potential wedding venue and it seemed lovely.

For a real treat - There are some fab new forest hotels.

The White Star would be a fab base, like everyone else I haven't stayed there but lived directly opposite for 2 years and can honestly say it was massively noisey at night, even in the summer with all the windows open.
