Special B&B in the new forest |
|
Looking for some help here... I'm planning a surprise for my partners 30th and have already booked a night in Wiltshire to eat at the Michelin star The Harrow Inn and then heading down to the New Forest where we will stay one night at the Cottage Lodge in Brokenhurst. The question is whether to drive off somewhere else for a change of scenery or stay in the New Forest for another night for total relaxation! I have never been to Hampshire so not really sure if is worth exploring other areas. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel or b&b for around £100 a night that is a little special either in this area or anywhere between the New Forest and London? I have tried the Kingfisher retreat and Ryehill Cottage but they only have min. 2 nights stay.. Any ideas will be much appreciated! |

The New Forest is definitely a pretty area with much to see, it certainly is worth your while to stay there for another night. WHY change your accommodation though?? If you are liking the sound of the place you have already booked, I'd just stay on there, Brockenhurst is pretty central for 'The Forest' and if you are already there, why waste time packing, driving somehwhere else, and unpacking, when you could be out & about for a day, enjoying yourselves?? Plenty of peeps commute from the New Forest area to London, so it's not an outrageous journey!

Thanks very much for your message the main reason was that the same room goes up to £156 from £90 the night before... which throws my budget a bit as we will also be doing a number of other things for various days... so I thought we should perhaps enjoy the one night and then move on, however, you do have a very valid point. Would you recommend Beaulieu or Fordingbridge to stay an extra night? or doesn't it really matter... Just want to have a good relaxing break but that isn't too too quiet either... thanks again elena

Well Beaulieu is a great place, with the Motor Museum a must-see IMO. Perhaps you could find a place to stay at Bucklers Hard, which is very picturesque. Good Luck!

I went around the new forest looking for a hotel, not a B&B, for my mum and dads golden wedding aniversary lunceon. After visiting most of the hotels, we picked on Le Poussin at Whitley Ridge, near Brokenhurst. Although no-one stayed overnight, the food was excellent along with the service and the location. Brokenhurst is a nice place, not many shops, a rail link, and within two minutes walk you are out into the open forest. Have a look at bedandbreakfastsguide.com/B_Bs/BROCKENHURST_… You could always go for a very quiet B & B, I have not stayed there myself, but Fritham is a very samll quiet place, with a pub, sheep, ponies and not much else. www.newforest-uk.com/primrose/index.htm

Hello My step-mum stayed here when I got married and she loved it. She said the food was amazing http://www.themillatgordleton.co.uk It near lymington which is lovely. I have to say if I could ever be treated to a hotel in the New Forest I would choose http://www.westoverhallhotel.com HTH Alison x
