hi I'm thinking about moving to Bristol and would like to know what are the most reccomendable neighbourwoods to rent a flat. thank you for your answer. Greetings. Paula.

As all major citys most neighbour hoods are safe just be streetwise. Where do you intend to work or study? Suggest you think about this as transport is quite restricted and expensive. I would say St Pauls, Easton, are areas to be avoided but during the day they would be fine. Certain areas have certain streets i wouldnt live or stay in. Southmead, Knowle West and Hartcliffe, Henbury are large goverment housing estates but they are further out of the city.

The 'nicest' areas are obviously the most expensive & for what you'd pay in rent for a 1/2 bed flat you could rent a 3 bed house in another area a bit further out from the city. We had a similar post a little while ago but the chap never came back to say anyting about budget, where he'd be working, whether he'd be happy relying on public transport or anything at all; it's quite hard to say wihout a bit more info. Most areas have nice bits & not so nice bits - but if you could tell us a bit about what you will be doing we can give you some pointers.

Good areas are Clifton, studenty but residential aswell and smart Victorian houses. Redland, much the same but not quite so expensive. Bishopston, lovely neighbourhood, great soppng street, Victorian houses, bit studenty but very family and mixed ages. Horfield, smaller Victorian houses but more affordable. Filton, smaller houses again, near British Aerosapce, Hewlett Packard, MOD, good shops.

Hi Paula One of the best neighbourhoods to live in Bristol is Bedminster, great community Mike

Hiya I agree about Bedminster and also Southville - being a Bemmie resident. It is within walking distance of the city centre and the harbourside. there is a lot of new restaurants and bars springing up plus good local shopping such as butchers and grocers so you don't have to go to the supermarket. It is an up and coming area and not so expensive as say clifton or Redland. You can get a lot more for you buck. Any qns just pm me etc. love and peace to all. Kitty
