I visited Noahs Ark Zoo Farm after I viewed their details on the visit bristol.co.uk website.

I think it is important that you get feedback on these places that you advertise..Here is my letter of complaint that I have sent to them, the evening post and other Tourist Board websites.

adam.beaumont@ noahsarkzoofarm.co.uk is the email address of their marketing manager should you feel cause to make contact like I have after being treated so rudely.

I visited Noah's Ark zoo on Saturday 21/04/07. As a

result of my disappointment with the rather lack

lustre maze. I travelled a long way to enjoy the maze

- the boast of being the world's longest totally sold

me in the need to come visit Noah's Ark.

This email of complaint is not about the maze as such

but more about how I was treated when I asked for a

'possible' refund due to my disappointment of not

seeing a maze but a path of knee high twigs.

I asked Lenie at the service desk entrance "if it

would be possible to request a refund"...please do

note this was, as I think, as polite as any person can

be in asking for a potential refund. I certainly did

not start 'throwing my toys out of the pram' and

demanding a refund no questions asked.

I was told that Lenie could not give a refund

personally but if I sat and waited for the manager to

arrive then perhaps he could deal with a refund.

Ok...all good so far.

Until the said manager arrived some 20 minutes late!

and and instantly talked over me whilst I was explaining

my disappointment with the maze and would it be 'possible'

for a refund.

He then said that I had been threatening to staff

member Lenie in asking for a refund.

Excuse me???? threatening?... After questioning the

intelligence and people skills of this manager I had

to wonder if the golden retriever he was holding was

indeed walking the manager instead of the other way

around. To suggest to a customer that I have been

threatening is totally unprofessional unless proven

and with good cause to suggest such a flippant remark.

So I then walked over to Lenie at the pay kiosk and

asked "was I in any way threatening to you when I

asked `'if it would be possible to request a refund'

"...her answer along with her work colleague was a

resounding "No not at all"

On turning to the manager who had totally backed

himself into a corner now he said 'well we don't give

refunds'....Why are the staff not instructed to inform

a dissatified customer that your company policy is "no

refund, but if you would like to discuss your

dissatifaction with the manager then please wait"...

As it was - I had wasted a further 20 minutes waiting for this

rather inpertinent manger to arrive.

I would have expected the manager on that day to have

an opening line more along the lines

of..."Hello..sorry to hear you have not enjoyed our

facilities..first and foremost we do not issue refunds

but I would be more than happy to take on board any

criticism or complaints that you have..." and actually

engage in a conversation rather than saying I was

being threatening.

Do be honest the manager read me the wrong way - was

discriminative against me and outrageously

unprofessional in his dealing with people.

I look forward to their reply - and no! I am not after

a refund anymore - just an apology with the knowledge

that the manager who spoke so rudely and accusatory of

me will be disiplined.

Also I suggest that they give a real representation of what

your maze of twigs is like on their website rather than

this image -

noahsarkzoofarm.co.uk/wp-content/mazegreen.j…

I suggest that he does take note of my complaint, if I was a non white person then his

discriminative approach to me could be taken in a rather racist way.

I also urge the you to let your readers know that not all is christian in Noah's Ark Zoo Farm.

I think Noah himself wouldn't have taken two of this manger with him!

SIncerely

Mr J Poole

Bizarre! You visited a 100 acre zoo filled with exotic animals and wanted a refund because a 3-year old maze of beech saplings wasn't over your head. Totally bizarre. Maybe you should have checked first before visiting, rather than rely on a tiny JPEG illustration.

I am confused; easily done, I know. You give your area as Bristol; the farm is just outside Bristol - how can that be 'travelling a long way'? I had assumed you'd maybe travelled hundreds of miles.

I am sure you were disappointed; however a beech maze planted less than 4 years ago is NOT going to be along the height of well-established mazes such as at Hampton Court. Incidentally, how was the indoor maze? They say that may be the largest of its kind in the country.

You disliked the way the manager handled your complaint. Fair enough, but please don't bring racism into this when there was none. In what way did he discriminate you?

Noah wasn't christian, although in fairness you haven't actually said this ;-)

But a point I will agree with you on - your perception of how your complaint was handled. Although managers are usually only human themselves, they *should* be able to respond to complaints in a fair manner, although the result may still not be to your liking. I'm not sure how much training people have in handling complaints, but 'customer service' should be a given in places like this.

Has it helped, writing an email of complaint? However, I cannot join you in your condemnation.

I could be wrong, GilliganUK, but this looks like one of those TA members who joins just to complain about something (or be offensive) and never returns.

It might also be worth pointing out here that this farm is run by Creationists who argue "the historical truth of Noah's flood and the ineluctable differences between animal families"

Is that "argue" or "assert in a way that brooks no argument"? Explains the cr*p maze, though.

My complaint about Noahs Ark is that it is run by a bunch of creationists - interesting that they also do not appear to have got the hang of customer service..
