Just spent two great weeks in Toronto and now just wondering if there is enough to do in Canmore, Banff area for a two week stay ? We like activity based holidays, visiting picturesque towns that have history, eating out and great scenery. We'd probably be coming at end June 2009. Does anyone know any good sites for renting 4 bedroomed private lodges/villas in Canmore area to accomodate 8 people. Many thanks

If you're from England (like me) you'd be impressed with "Lodges at Canmore". Not sure you can get more than 2 bedrooms, but you could get 2 next to eachother and spend most of the time in one lodge without feeling cramped. I've had tiny cottages in Cornwall for 1 week for the same cost as the Lodges and the difference is amazing! ( Rip off Britain !)

We went for the snow and spent 11 days. If I had the chance to spend 2 weeks there in summer I'd grab it!

Yes, if you like outdoor activities, I'm sure you could easily spend 2 weeks around Banff/Canmore.

In my opinion, Canmore is a great place to stay for access to the Banff/Lake Louise areas. And there is plenty to do. Try this website for rentals www.bedfind.com - I haven't rented from them, but I have looked at it for information. Enjoy your trip.

In Canmore there is the Mystic Springs lodge. It's very nice/posh and can fit around 6 people, possibly 8. Great location and accomodation.

I think you'll only be able to enjoy a 2 week stay if you really really really like hiking. In Canmore there is are some awesome hikes. I highly recommend Hi Ling's peak (china man's peak) although it is difficult towards the end. But you actually get to stand right on the top of the mountain and the entire hike is 4 hours.

You can also kayak, mountain climb, etc. There are some good pubs in Camore, and a good club - Aurora - in Banff.

I think that you can do alot and see alot in 1 week. 2 weeks may be pushing it.

Email me if you have any questions and I can give you more info.

I have just returned from a 3 week stay in Canada & we found plenty to do. If you like great scenery, I don't think you find anything better than the Rockies. There are plenty of walks for all ages in and around Canmore. Banff is only a 20 mins drive away as is Lake Minnewanka where you can hire boats or go on an organised boat trip. Lake Louise is a further 15 mins drive but well worth it with some good walks from the lake. You can hire bikes in Canmore and go horse riding and if you like dogs a visit to the kennels at Snowy Owl is well worth a visit. Hope you enjoy your trip
