Hiya i just wanted a little advice!!

Its my Mums birthday in August and she is a huge Celine Dion fan. So i would like to take her to Montreal for a couple days and also hope to get tickets to see her on her World Tour. HOWEVER.... with this being in her home town i am not at all hopeful as ive come up blank on all websites for tickets so far!

According to her website she has 10 Concerts between 15th August 08 and 1st September 08 (with 2 of them in Toronto) but i was wondering are there people at these kind of events selling tickets etc. I know touting is wrong but this may prove to be my only way of getting tickets and i would be prepared to pay a bit more. IF NOT does anyone know if there are any big screens or anything around town where people without tickets will gather?? I know this isnt a common thing but Celine Dion in Montreal i didnt know if they would make a big thing of it.

And coming away from that... advice and recommendations on the best areas to stay etc. and what would be the top things to do for us. We are from England but i speak a little French so i hope this will help but we'll be looking to spend 2-3 days in Montreal.

Thanks in advance!!

These shows are not sold out.

I just went to www.admission.com and asked for 2 seats for opening night, August 15, best seats available, and 2 seats priced at $195 popped up for sale.

The Sheraton Centre and the Marriott are right next to the arena, the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth is just down the street, there are tons of hotels nearby...or stay at a nice boutique hotel in Old Montreal. Know how to say please, thank you, hello in French, but for the most part, everyone in Montreal also speak English.

What a wonderful daughter you are!

You haven't mentioned your budget, but if it's your first time here, I would try and find a place in Old Montreal, for it's character and beauty.

Art galleries, the Old Port, cobblestone streets, outdoor cafes,- and also full of lovely hotels. Take a look at The Nelligan (my favorite - take a look at the TA reviews), Springhill Suites, Place D'Armes, Auberge de Vieux Port and so many more...

Also, take a look at this link:

www.tourisme-montreal.org/Offers/Summer

It lists some of the hotels that have a "sweet deal" promotion where you can get half off certain nights of your stay. This may make it more affordable for you.

Have fun!

Hi;

My in-laws visit us each year from the UK, and they swear by a British firm “Canadian Affair” which utilizes Thomas Cook airlines.

If they can please my mother in-law, I would suggest having a look at their flights and prices.

Best Regards

Hey thanks everyone for the replies!!

I checked out all your links and a few other sites and ive just decided to book as a whole package with Expedia as it didnt really work out much different in terms of price so it just more convenient to book flight and hotel as one.

I have got return flights from London to Montreal and 3 nights at the Best Western Ville Marie Montreal

for £1546 which was just over my ''intended'' budget of £1400.

But i think it will be worth it as i will be surprising her the day before we go :-)

So thank you all for your help it is much appreciated!!

P.S - MomofTravelers ......... im a wonderful SON not daughter lol ;-)

Merci!!
