We will be staying in Old Montreal in August. We are looking for casual, moderately priced (or less) restaurants within walking distance. We especially like Italian food. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

It's not Italian but if you want some good pub food you can try Les trois brasseurs. They even brew their own beer.

Haven't eaten down there in a while, but how about:

-Galliano's (Italian)

-Da Emma (Italian)

-Mechant Boeuf(next door to Nelligan Hotel, burgers, steaks, etc)

-Olive and Gourmando (lunch and Brownies)

-Holder (casual bistro, great ambiance, very decent food)

-Boris (for the patio)

There are also tons of places where you could grab gourmet salads and pressed sandwiches. You won't have a problem finding something inexpensive to eat in the Old Port.

Bon Appetit!
