Quick advice to groups who want to party in Montreal. Avoid the party planners. Clubs/bars are free, VIP does not really get you much if anything, drinks are cheap during happy hour anyway, and you can get your hotel conceierge to arrange day trips. Or just head to a website to set up water spots, outdoor trips, etc.

While I agree, I don't think you need to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out by yourself.

Well, I didn't know. I had not been to Montreal before and knew nothing about the lay of the land. In New York, it is difficult to get into hot spots without expensive tips and overprices bottle service, and figuring out the "right" places to go can be difficult for a newcomer and the naive (like me). But, glad to know you agree.

I know of plenty of places in Montreal with expensive tips and overprices bottle service by local standards, I guess you found it cheaper than NYC, which is the case.

My point is that I didn't have to tip the door guy nor did I have to buy bottle service to gain access to clubs and bars. Before I became a member of this forum, I didn't know the lay of the land in Montreal. Getting into places in Montreal is not as hard as it can be in New York, and Montreal clubs are just as much fun without all the snobbery you get in New York. Also, I didn't get rejected at the door based on having a group of 10 guys. That can easily happen in New York at popular clubs.

So, I hear your point about Montreal having bottle service, but I didn't have to tip to get into any place that had a line nor did I have to promise to by a $500 bottle of vodka to gain access with group. And we weren't rejected at the door based on some crazy criteria made up by the bouncer.

Back to our original premise, you agree that people don't need these VIP party planners to gain access to places in Montreal.

Globalnaut - thanks for taking the time to inform people who, by reason of not necessarily being familiar with Montreal, apparently aren't rocket scientists either. All of us appreciate it.
