A friend recently informed me that it was possible to dispose of a car in Toronto for nearly free, the cars being paid for by the publicity they were generating as the cars are litterally covered with ads. I thought I had bookmarked the website, but did not. Can anybody help?

Eirelover.

I just checked the above link I provided in my post...and it did not copy correctly, as the address I guess was too long. I will send it to you via a private message.

No, northerndeco, that is not the one. What I have seen are cars for which people pay a very small amount of money just to drive around in Toronto and GTA, so that the car pays for itself, giving visibility to the advertisers (cars are totally painted in ads). Thanks for searching anyway.

OH, you had me confused by the word dispose (to throw away) I think you are talking about cityflitz or flix. The deal with them though is you need to give them a deposit of about $350 and you're responsible for insurance. I much prefer Zipcar.

CityFlitz!! That's the one! http://www.cityflitz.com/rentals/about/

Hmmm ... $350 deposit kind of makes their $1 day a tad less interesting. Thanks urbanfoodie, and thanks for the Zipcar info too. I knew about them from UK, did not know they were in North America as well.

Hi;

Regarding Flitz.

I would suggest reading the “small print”.

• You have to pay a security deposit upfront of $350.

• You have to pay a $30 application fee.

• You have to pay a monthly $7 membership fee.

• You will receive your deposit less any fees of charges after SIXTY DAYS, and ONLY if your membership is in good standing…i.e. pay the membership fee during the 60 day period. ($7+7) AND if you do not have an outstanding dispute with them.

There are many more rules, fees, fines, and other restrictions, but these are just a few I picked-up on having a quick look at their website.

Best Regards
