We are a family of four travelling to Toronto as part of a holiday in North America. We will have several suitcases (poss 3 medium sized plus hand luggage). I have been researching transport from the airport and have a couple of questions:

1) Which is the nearest stop on the airport express route to the Residence Inn (downtown/entertainment district)? Is the distance manageable with luggage?

2) Will we struggle to get an airport taxi large enough to accomodate us and the luggage? We usually have an estate car to the airport in the UK.

Thanks!

Your easiest option would be to take a taxi direct to your hotel from the airport, they would have a set fee for everyone where the Airport Express is priced per person. The taxi/limo companies do have mini-vans available if required due to the number of people and luggage.

If you want to take the Airport Express, the closest stop would be the Holiday Inn On King which is a block from the Residence Inn (less than 5 min walk).

It's no problem getting a big enough taxi at the airport. Three medium-sized suitcases should fit in the trunk... sorry, boot... without any problems. And if the taxi "traffic cop" guy figures you need a bigger car, he will radio to the holding area and get a minivan for you. You might have to wait an extra five minutes.

The round-trip fare on Airport Express is $30 per person, or $120 for your group. Even if the minivan costs you a premium (I'm not sure if it does), the price of a taxi will be more or less the same, and you'll get door-to-door service. Beats having to schlep those suitcases two blocks to the Residence Inn.

Hi berges;

The Airport Express bus is $18.50 per person, one-way.

A taxi is $46 flat rate, plus gratuity, one-way.

A limo is $50 flat rate, plus gratuity, one way.

A family of four with luggage should fit comfortably in either a taxi or limo, and would be the most economical.

Best Regards

AND, do look at it this way too..you are getting a door-to-door comfortable 20 mile, 40 minute trip, for about 25 quid. I don't think that you could get this kind of deal.."over 'ome".

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

We were swaying towards a taxi and you have made the decision much easier for us.

p.s. You're right - we rarely get that value for money with UK taxis!!
