Is there a train to get from San antonio Texas to Toronto? I dont want to fly or drive.

I have posted in the Texas forum but maybe someone has done this trip who lives in Toronto.

I've checked amtrak.com and it seems to be the only one I can find. Lots of stops along the way and a few train changes.

Do you know another train option?

Thanks in advance

Train service between Toronto and the USA is virtually nonexistent anymore. The only way to go to Toronto by train without a break is to go to Buffalo NY, and then switch to the NYC-Toronto train. If you go to either Detroit or Port Huron, MI you have to take a taxi across the Canadian Border to either Windsor or Sarnia, and pick up VIA RAIL in those cities. If you still opt for this method of travel, then it would have to be the Buffalo connection.

Hi;

As Trptld commented, from Toronto the only crossing into the US by train would be via Niagara Falls / Buffalo.

“Lots of stops along the way and a few train changes.” There is no train equivalent to a non-stop flight for such a long distance ride.

Just as Canada has VIA Rail, the US has Amtrak…there are no other options for passenger rail travel from Toronto to San Antonio.

Best Regards

The reason for the original post is that my sister does not want to fly no matter what, she takes too long to drive and it is very tiring, she also would have to buy lots of gas and have to stay at a hotel for at least two nights.

So the only option is a train if she decides to do that instead of driving. I just wanted to know. THanks for the info.

I would think that would be really expensive taking the train to San Antonio.

The train costs about $1250 and you get a roomette which is a room where the seats open up flat so you can sleep. The cost of gas and hotels along the trip would end up costing about the same I calculated.
