We are keen to visit the Elmhirst Resort on Rice Lake in Summer 2009. We have read some unfavourable reviews and wonder if someone can give us some advice. We are a family of four (2 kids 9 + 4). We are looking for clean good quality accomodation with plenty to do for the kids. The Deerhurst looks nice but very big and impersonal. Pow-wow looks smaller, but not sure of facilties. Can anyone help with advice or suggestions ?

Take a look at Shamrock Lodge in Port Carling or Clevelands House. Both places have a lot of repeat visitors. My daughter and her family loved Shamrock Lodge. Nicer than Rice Lake I think.

Well I just came back from a canoe trip at camp it lasted 5 nights and 6 days. During that amount of time we canoed for hours and hours. Portaging the canoes on our backs and going down rapids. It was a lot of fun other then not taking showers. But thats not the point. Lake Tamagami is beautiful. But I don't really recomend it unless your looking for good canoeing? And great places to camp out in a tent. If thats not your thing I recomened looking for lodges in the Muskoka Area. This lake is really gorgeous. Also if you go around the Owen sound area you can find some great lodges also. Search both of the areas and see what you like best! I wish you luck, my friend. ;D
