I tried taking some visiting friends up the CN Tower yesterday at 6pm and we were told the wait was 1 hour up, and another 1.5 hour wait to go to the Skypod.

Any suggestions about a better time to go to avoid such a huge delay (total 2.5 hours?)

First thing in the morning; line up before it opens.

I got there a little after 9:00am last week and there were no lines to speak of. I wouldn't go in the evening, the lines are huge.

We went about 10am on a weekday (can't remember which day though - maybe a Thursday?) and there were no queues at all. We didn't buy Skypod tickets so not sure about the line for that, but it was pretty busy up in the viewing deck/restaurant area but no queues to go up or come down and we also got served pretty quickly in the cafe.

This happened to me also...when I visited Toronto last summer. I never got to see it because the lines where way to long! So the following morning my brother took the subway early... and there was no lines. I suggest going in the morning.
