I will working in Toronto for a week in September staying at the Residence Inn on Wellington Street in the entertainment district. I am a female about 50 years old and I would like to know of a good place to go after work for drinks and conversation to make some new friends.

Bars in the Entertainment District definitely skew young. There are lots of nightclubs around, frequented mainly by under-25s. But there are also a few pubs. The Elephant and Castle at King and Simcoe likely has a grown-up clientele (I've only been there for lunch).

But if you really want to have a good time, go to the Gladstone Hotel on Queen W. for karaoke: http://www.gladstonehotel.com/karaoke.htm

On Thursday nite after work The Keg on York St is called "The Sexy Keg". I think you'd like it!

Hello there,

You may want to try Sen5es for afterwork drinks. It's near your hotel.

If you're working in the financial district (King St. and Bay St. area) during your week here, Ki is great for an after work drink.

Bier Markt is also good, has a nice outdoor patio. a short walk from the financial district.

Hope this helps.

You might want to check out the Drake Hotel. Here is a link so you can see if it is something that might appeal to you. Good luck.
