When we are holidaying in Toronto it will be my husbands birthday, does anyone have any ideas of what i could arrange to make it that bit more special. The menu at the 360 CN Tower restuarant would not appeal to him - so thats out of the picture - tho i would of loved it.

Thank you for any help

Tell us more about your husband. How old is he? What does he enjoy? Is he a steak man? A single malt lover? Or is he indifferent to food and drink and would prefer a day at the track? Fill us in!

OK, he will be 48, hes quite a simple person really, hes not a drinker, and begrudges paying out loads on food, he eats to live, unlike me! He likes culture, scenery, photograpy and animals especially tigers, he doesnt go clubbing, but likes rock music. Hes easily pleased and will probably appreciate anything I do, but i just want it to be different and special.

We will be going to Niagra and eating up the Skylon Tower, and he will do the Maid in the Mist.

But the day of his birthday we will be in Toronto.

Hope this helps...........

How about a lovely, attitude free French bistro meal at La Palette in Kensington Market ( http://www.lapalette.ca/ ) I think their prix fixe menu is around $32. Very reasonably priced. I'm a big fan of their Poulet Bon Maman and their 3 flavours of Creme Brulee. If you convert the prices to GBP, it would be peanuts for you two.

What about a trip to the Toronto Zoo? It will be an all-day trip and will definitely satisfy his love of animals. The animal environments are all top notch and the zoo is in a beautiful setting at the eastern edge of the city in the Rouge Valley.

Your husband might enjoy the Royal Ontario Museum. They sometimes have special exhibits, so you could check to see if there is anything special while you're in town.

Another idea might be a lunch or dinner cruise (e.g. http://www.mariposacruises.com or there are several other cruises available...most don't run daily, so hopefully you can find one that's running on that day) The views of the Toronto skyline and the Toronto islands are wonderful! It's a bit pricey, but you're paying for the view more than you are the food (and it wouldn't cost more than dinner at the CN tower anyways)

hi, what about Il fornello, Queen's Quay location? Prices are reasonable, the menu is all Ontario, and you'll have a great view of the lake!
