Distance from Westin Hotel to Performing Art Centre |
Hello All, Could anyone advise best travel method (Don't have car) from Westin Harbourfront Hotel to see Jersey Girls production at Performing Arts Centre. Thank you. |
I assume you mean "Jersey Boys" which is at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. You can take public transit all the way, just across the street (Queen's Quay) is the entrance to the streetcar tunnel, get on board a north bound car to Union Station and transfer to the subway. Take a northbound train on the Yonge line to North York Centre station (aprox. 30 min trip), exit on west side of Yonge st. and walk south and follow signs to the theatre.
By taxi would be about a 40 minute trip and pricey. Subway would be your best bet. Give your self lots of time.
Thanks OOps yes meant Jersey Boys ... Would it be OK /safe to take same return journey after show on the sat night . Thanks so much.
Hi, Forgot to also check if there are any nice restaurants near Toronto Centre for the Arts that we could get dinner before the concert . Thanks
Yes, the subway would be a safe way back (last train is around 1:30ish). The last leg from Union Station down to the hotel could be a little quiet, but it's a safe area.
Thanks for the advise ,would it be worth taking a taxi then on return leg from say Union Station ? Thanks a lot.
Well, you certainly could (there are always taxis out in front of Union) and it'd be pretty cheap (about $6 plus tip for the Union-Harbour Castle cab ride). It really depends what you're comfortable with. If you find there are other people heading that way, you might not need the cab. (Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to take transit the whole way.) On the other hand, if it seems especially quiet, or if you're a woman travelling alone, you might decide a cab is a good idea.

hi, just a p.s. to mattinTO's post. You'd asked if the subway is safe. It is safe and is a great way to get to and from the show, but if you want extra reassurance (especially if you're travelling alone), you might want to sit either in the front car (where the driver is) or the conductor's car. To get the conductor's car, when you're waiting on the platform, stand under the DWA (Designated Waiting Area) sign. Then just get into the car that stops right in front of you.
Thanks everyone for advise. Regarding payment of tickets can these be purchased at the Streetcar tunnel entrance ? or on board. If I purchase an unlimited daily ticket would this ticket cover us for this journey as well and if so where can this be purchased. Many thanks
hi, you cannot purchase your tickets (either single, or the pass) on board. Here's info on where you can buy the tokens and passes. www3.ttc.ca/Fares_and_passes/Prices/Buying_t… Some subway stops have an additional entrance which take token or Metropass only. There's usually no collector at that 2d entrance and the machines don't always work..... I think I saw a post a couple of weeks ago that you can also buy them at the airport but I don't have the details on this.
