Ever since we first started planning our trip back in February I've checked this webcam almost daily. I just love to see the waves & the light at different times of day, and lately ALL the people walking around. But I have a question: yesterday a truck with a great big crane came & went, & today there seems to be construction of some kind on the rocks - a more accessible path? Anybody know what's happening?

There has been no mention of this in the paper or on the TV news. But from looking at the webcam it may be some kind of rope walkway. I hope I'm wrong.

I haven't heard anything either ..

Looks like a roped walkway or something leading up to the lighthouse via the rocks, I'll have to keep watching but never before have that had anything like that at Peggy's Cove ??

Makes me wonder if they're making a designated walkway to keep visitors together & off the rocks for safety? to not damage the ecosystem? Do people get swept away? Are there indigenous plants that grow in the rock cracks that might be damaged? Some parks here have designated trails for just those reasons, but that area's been open, well, since they built the lighthouse, yes? I sent an email to the Peggys Cove Region website but haven't gotten a reply yet. I'm just curious - well, nosy. But we sure want to see the cove regardless of path or fog or multitudes of tour busses or rain or dark of night!

Yes unfortunately people have been swept away when they get WAY too close to the edge despite warning signs there. Whenever we have a big storm people gather there for the thrill.

We'll have to watch and see what this is.

If you do hear back from peggyscoveregion let us know please,

My husband and I really would like to see Peggy's Cove at sunrise. We are going July 21st. Can anyone tell me when would be a good time to go early in the morning? Thanks...love the webcam!

If it is a designated walkway, good luck to them! In the Rockies it is really tough to keep visitors on pathways, or from scrambling over railings that have been put in place at the edge of cliffs and waterfalls. Sanity and the environment are often trashed by visitors in search of the perfect photo or a shortcut.

This is the response I received today.

"looks like they are working on the path leading to the lighthouse - nothing major"

I suppose it will help some, seniors, small children or the physically challenged to have a hand rail to hold on to. I remember a lady senior who was hurt quite badly last year falling on the rocks so seems it will have some benefit of course for some.
