If you want to stay in the downtown area there are LOTS of hotels & many B&Bs!

Fairmont, Delta, Comfort Inn, Marriott, & there's likely still more.

The Holiday Inn is really located in the middle of the town which is close to everything.

Right downtown, within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. Only one caution...because of it's location, it can be a little noisy at weekends. I live in a rural area and am used to very quiet conditions so I had to use earplugs for sleeping.

The Home Hotel at the bottom of Signal Hill and the Hillview Suites have apartments you can rent with your own kitchen. There are a number of hotels in the downtown area (Mariott Courtyard, Fairmont, Delta, Quality Inn). Any of those would be good for a family.

I would suggest Signal Hill, the Geo Centre, the Rooms, Cape Spear and the Ocean Sciences Centre for things to do.

It's been a while since you posted, but if you haven't already made plans, try Hometel. The great thing about Hometel is that you can rent the whole house and get 3 bedrooms, living room, dining room and a full kitchen. Breakfast is included too. The website is www.hometels.ca. Great place. Perfect for a family.
