Which Knight Inlet Lodge ??? |
|
Surfing the internet looking for the best place to vieuw Grizzly Bears, we found out that there are two lodges carrying the same name: KNIGHT INLET LODGE. We found al luxuary accomodation at www.grizzlytours.com and a smaller one in the same area at http://www.knightinletlodge.com. There is a huge difference in pricing, but the program is almost the same, although the latter looks to be more "basic", but also more personal because of the smaller amount of maximum stay for 10 people. Can anyone tell me experiences about either of them? |

I've only been to the one with the grizzly tours website (which was amazing--I'd definitely recommend it) so I can't comment on the differences between the two.

We are going to the smaller of the lodges in four weeks time, so I'll let you know all about it when we get back, but I can tell you how helpful the people at Knights Inlet Lodge have been, we have never done anything like this before and we had loads of questions. They have been so helpful with ideas for the rest of our itinery, and our travel arrangments. We quite fancy the more personal touch, only ten people staying there. You can look on the internet and get 360 deg veiws of the lodge, the rooms, and the fab views, and yes it looks a bit basic but it is in the middle of nowhere. Jude

Hi Teigetje www.grizzlytours.com is the website of the famous Knight Inlet Lodge. They are expensive but are at the heart of where it all happens. It's the same place where Chris Zegers stayed when he was in British Columbia for Yorin Travel. The Knight Inlet Lodge that is featured on www.knightinletlodge.com seems to be taking advantage of the name. Their map shows they are located quite a distance from the Glendale Cove spawning channel where all the grizzly action is happening. If it's mainly the grizzly bears you want to go there for you might want to consider a daytrip with Tiderip Tours (www.tiderip.com), they now use the same viewing stands as the Knight inlet Lodge of www.grizzlytours.com. We booked this trip back in 1999 as we thought Knight Inlet Lodge with its high pirces would not offer us better viewing opportunities than Tiderip. It was absolutely outstanding!

Well it's probably far too late now but just incase anyone else is looking.... Just come back from a fabulous 3 week trip to Canada (Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Rocky Mountaineer, Rockies....) and the absolute highlight was our 3 night package to Knights Inlet. That's the one at Glendale Cove- the floating lodge. It's the one at the grizzly tours.com website. It's hard to get a feel for just how fantastic this place is from the website so although I had high expectations -even these were surpassed. The accommodation is suberb- we had an enormous room with a stunning view over the inlet, all the staff are brilliant- so friendly, the food was excellent and as for the bears-----go see them for yourselves! It's worth every penny. Only downside? We wished we'd gone for the 4 night package!

OK so I'm really going to confuse you now, 'cos we've just come back from the most fantastic 2 weeks in Canada. (Vancouver,Knight Inlet,Campbell River,Victoria) and the highlight for us was the stay at Knight Inlet Lodge (the small one)There were only 9 of us staying there and we all very quickly became friends, yes the accomadation was maybe a bit basic, but it was hardly roughing it. The staff were amazing, helpful, and informative. The food was fantastic. The veiws were amazing. We would not hesitate to recomend it to anyone, in fact we intend to go back. Jude
