Hi all,

I'm embarking on a two week whirlwind tour of Canada and the US on Saturday with my girlfriend. It's her birthday whilst we're over there and we'll be in the middle of a three day stopover in Vancouver at that point. I'm just looking for any suggestions with regards to romantic places to visit in the daytime and evening; attractions, bars, restuarants, etc.

I'm quite happy to leave it to chance and wing it when I get there - but some pointers would be really good, especially recommendations with regards to places you've visited and enjoyed yourselves.

Thanks :)

It would help us out if you could mention what season (summer or winter) of the year you would be visiting.

In Canadian society bars and romance are mutually exclusive.

If it's a romantic dinner you want try

My husband took me for a wonderful dinner at Bishops on 4th for my birthday last year. John Bishop is one of this city's most famous retauranteurs--the restaurant was intimate, the service outstanding and the meal was perfect. If you feel like spending some dough, that's where I would head.

My idea of romance is a secluded mountain top or rocky outcropping with a fantastic view. If you are lucky with the weather, try somewhere like Lighthouse Park or Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver. I think Capilano River Regional Park has some really lovely spots too, and that's a place to go anyway, because of the wonderful canyon and the enormous trees.

If the weather is lousy, try a harbour cruise, or a train trip up to Whistler. The view will be spoiled, but you only have eyes for each other anyway, right?? ;>

Hey, thanks for the replies so far, I'll check out those recommendations when I finsih work!

In response to the first poster, we're landing in Calagry this coming Saturday and will be in Vancouver by Tuesday. I guess that's Fall in terms of season (we're coming prepared with warm clothes, waterproofs and umbrellas!).

For me, there is nothing better then being all bundled up with my significant other, taking in the view atop grouse mountain. It is spectacular at night!
