Trying to visit Vancouver in July with a 13 and 9yr old. Can anyone recommend a good hotel, close enough for transport links.

Not fussy about official ratings I would rather be recommended a hotel by ordinary people who have stayed there for their vacation.

Thank you

Have you checked the hotel listing on the left of this page? The reviews are by real people who have stayed there. Do you want a suite hotel so you can do some cooking or simply a large room?

The downtown core is very compact so staying there will put you near to transit and attractions.

I would look at the Sylvia, the Blue Horizon, the Sandman Suites on Davie just to start and again be sure to check the reviews...you can then ask questions about 3 or 4 prticular hotels to narrow it down.

Downtown and the West End are very safe, lively areas. July is a good time with lots of festivals and street buskers - the streets will be alive with activity and people, so lots to see and do. We have dozens and dozens of hotels, so lots to choose from. Would avoid the east end of the downtown area -towards the theatres and the stadiums just because that area is less interesting with kids.

Thanks for the information.

The Sandman Suites on Davie look amazing...unfortunately they are completely unavailable all throughout the summer, I tried so many dates.

Will try another couple tonight.

Also try the Marriott Residence Inn on Hornby Street, a reasonably easy walk outside of the downtown centre but easily accessible as well as an easy walk to the little ferries that will take you onto Granville Island.

They serve breakfast and have a fridge so as to cut down on costs.
